Masked Mr and Mrs....

Well....that's an interesting title!!

No I haven't been reading 50 Shades of Grey either :-0

I have been playing around with the heart mask from the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask set though.  Super simple to use.....just lay the mask over your cardstock and then use either a sponge dauber or a sponge wedge to apply the Real Red ink in varying strengths.

Here's a close up of the extended background mat for the Artisan Punch....love it when I can extend a punch!!

And here is a close up of the different strengths of the mask stencilling.

Colours: Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White
Stamps: Label Love
Other: Basic Black Chevron Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones

Crazy About You Birthday...

This is a fun card that I created for a girl friend's birthday, then also used in a technique class.  It features a tried and true technique called Black Magic, which has been a favourite of mine for many years.  It was one of the first techniques that I learnt when I started stamping, way back in 2008.  I love it when I see a way to reinvent one of those 'oldies'.

Here's the card.....

As you can see it's a bright, yet simple card, perfect for my friend, who loves Real Read and Wild Wasabi.

And here are some close ups of the technique.

Stamps:  Crazy About You, Chalk Lines
Colours: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black, Real Red
Other:  Kids Colouring Pencils, Basic Pearls, White Gel Pen, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine.

Serene Silhouettes....

This is a combination that my middle daughter chose from the SU! Colour Coach for me to stamp with.  I have to admit, this was some time ago, and I've had this card sitting in my box of sample cards for a little while.  I used it for a technique I taught to my monthly technique class girls - the technique was using your clear blocks to stamp with, to create a multi-coloured background.  You can see this in the image below.....taken from a different angle.

And here is the complete card.

I'm also entering this card into #TGIF01 Challenge.

Ink Colours: Baked Brown Sugar, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Pool Party
Stamps: Serene Silhouettes, Petite Pairs
Cardstock: Baked Brown Sugar, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Other:  Beautiful Wings Embosslits.

Just for You Bows

Don't you just love those bows.....they are perfect!!  Thanks to the Stampin' Up! Bow Builder Punch.  So easy to make a super cute card, suitable for a birthday or really.....any other occasion where you need to let someone know you are thinking of them.

The papers used for the bows are from the SU! Sale-a-bration set Best Year Ever, and are teamed with the ribbons from the accessory pack.  I'm also entering this card into the brand new TGIF Challenges #TGIF01 colour challenge.  Okay, technically not 100% correct colour usage, but hey Coastal Cabana is a slightly darker tone to Pool Party, which is in the challenge.  Hope that's close enough!!

Inks: Sahara Sand, Calypso Coral
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Stamps: Work of Art
Other: Best Year Ever DSP and Accessory Pack.

Things with Wings.....

I created this card for an upcoming technique class, and when I discovered that it fitted in with Uniko Studio's "Things with Wings" Challenge #20, I thought I'd link it up.  It's been a very long time since I joined a challenge of any type, and when I saw this I decided that it was a sign that I should enter.

While I created this with Mother's Day in mind, the sentiment could easily be adapted for any occasion.

Colours: Real Red, Pool Party, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie.
Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners, Wildflower Meadow
Other: Butterflies Thinlets Dies, Brights Buttons, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine

The Year So Far......

Well.....the year so far....craft wise has been more prolific than it has been for a while.  Due to a change in positions at work, I find that I now have more time for crafting, which is great.  It did take me a little while to find my creative side again, and I have been experimenting with some products that are either retired or from *gasp* other companies. But I thought I'd give you a quick snippet of creations from my year so far.....

Starting with Christmas.....  A good friend found some Hershey's nuggets and kisses and together we found this cute little Christmas tree online.  I created these red and silver ones for the Christmas Day table.....

A childhood friend had a significant birthday in January, so I created this card for her to celebrate the milestone.  I used Blendabilities (discontinued now *insert sad face) and Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana cardstock.  I stamped the images from I Like You hostess set in Versamark and then embossed with white embossing powder.
A work colleague had her birthday in March, so I created a set of cards from the SU! Painted Blooms DSP, available in the Occasions Catalogue.

In April, one of the mum's from school had her fourth baby, at last a girl after 3 boys. The sentiment circle is from A Fitting Occasion and the giraffe and congratulations is from Zoo Babies.

A close up of the sentiment circle to show the split heart detail, taken from the background paper.

Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this quick snapshot of my year so far.....
