One Sheet Wonder

One of my good friend's asked me to create a class where we could make a stash of cards, that were multi-purpose, so that she always had the appropriate card at hand whatever the occasion.

I created a One Sheet Wonder class - not anything new, but certainly something that I haven't done for a very long time.  I created the cards all from scratch, and designed the OSW plan to fit one sheet of stamped A4 Whisper White card.

I chose to feature the outgoing 2014-2016 In Colours - Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Tangello Twist. Stamp set was Flower Patch.

Here is a close up of each card.  The ladies could choose which sentiments they wanted to use, and also had the option to create 'card candy' - lots of labels that they could adhere later, so that the sentiment matched the occasion.

Sentiments were taken from whatever sets suited, too many to list here.....the purpose was to create cards suited to the needs of the stampers.  :-)

So Many Masks.....

Well, I guess it's time I let you all in on a little secret.....I've been chosen by the lovely Eva Bussom over at Can You Case It to be this week's Guest Designer. To say I'm a little bit excited is just a little bit of an understatement!! Thank you Eva for the opportunity to share my love of stamping with your followers.

This is the challenge for this week.....a colour challenge.

I've taken these colours, along with the neutral shades of black to create 3 cards, all of which use a variation on the masking technique.

Here they are.....

This first card uses a masking technique I taught at my last technique class, which was called Masked Die Cuts, but I've adapted it to be Masked Fussy Cuts!!!  I stamped the lily image from Remarkable You onto the cardstock, then again onto a sticky note.  I fussy cut around the image, then stuck it over the stamped image.  I used my sponges to add colour around the edges of the stamped image.  Then I used my Stamp'n'Write marker to add a bit of colour to the stamen and stem of the image.  I also added some bling with my Wink of Stella Clear Pen.

Here's a close up of the masking, and I think you can just see a little of the Stella.

The next card uses the mask to create a negative space which allows the sentiment to shine.  I've used the 3 step stamp "What I Love" from the Sale-a-Bration Catalogue for this card.

And lastly, I have used my acrylic block as a stamp to create the background printed blocks.  Then I've used my sticky notes along the edges of these background stamps to create a boarder.  Next I stamped the leaf image from Kinda Eclectic in differing places inside the background blocks. This allowed my card to be balanced and also striking and elegant in it's simplicity.

And don't you just love those little butterflies?  Papillion Potpourri is still one of my most favourite sets, even though it's a few years old now.

Don't forget to hop on over to Can You Case It and play along.

Stamps: Kinda Eclectic, Remarkable You, Papillion Potpourri, Petite Pairs, Flowering Fields, Circle of Spring,
Colours: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, Hello Honey, Memento Tuxedo Black, Pear Pizzazz

A Little Scoring .....

This is my very late entry into Colour Q and CAS(E) this Sketch this week.....and as I am very quickly running out of time, please excuse the very poor and yellow quality of these photos. :-(

As you can see, I've changed the orientation of the photo and used the diagonal plate on my Simply Scored tool to create the cross hatching in the background.  To make the flower, I punched out the shape, then ran each flower through my crimper several times, which helped to separate the fibres of the cardstock.  This then allowed me to split the cardstock, giving the rough textured side for the flowers   You can see this more clearly in the first photo.

Stamps:  Number of Years
Colours: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo
Other: Gold button, Calypso Coral Thick Bakers Twine.

Die Masking....

If you follow my Facebook page, you will have seen this teaser over the weekend.  It's a sneak peak at one of the techniques I taught at Sunday's class......Die Masking.

I just love the detail around each component of the image, which helps to create dimension without layers.

Here's a close up of the technique.

Colours: Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Stamps: Tin of Cards, Flower Patch
Other: Rhinestones, sticky notes, matching dies.

Some Chalk Lines.....

When I saw the latest sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch, I was a little puzzled as to what I could create from the sketch.

I had to really think about how I could use my stamps to follow the layout of the sketch.  But then I remembered that one of the cool things about photopolymer stamps is that you can bend the stamp to create different shapes.  So I used a straight line image from Chalk Lines and moulded it to mirror the shape of the division in the sketch.

Stamps: Chalk Lines, Honeycombe Hello, Timeless Textures, Flower Shop
Colours: Island Indigo, Rose Red, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Other: Rhinestones, Bird punch for the leaves.

Skating By......

Before school goes back, I have created a stash of male birthday cards, as Mr 8 is sure to be invited to lots of birthday parties for his mates through the year.

I've used the set Skating By.....from the Annual Catalogue. Perfect for all things Mr 8 loves.

Here's a close up of the 'cammo' colouring for his shirt on the green card....

And I've even managed to get some texture onto the yellow shirt!!

Here's another one that I made using some retired DSP.

Stamps: Skating By
Colours: Whisper White, Garden Green, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise
